Each year weed abatement notices are mailed to property owners of vacant parcels that have had recurring problems or those properties where a problem is anticipated during the fire season months. On April 9, 2025, the City Council of the City of West Sacramento adopted Resolution 25-35 declaring that weeds of a seasonal nature and recurrent nuisance are growing upon the property at the location designated below in West Sacramento, California. In the resolution, the weeds constitute a public nuisance, which must be abated by May ??, 2026. If you are unable to abate the nuisance yourself, you may contact one of the weed abatement contractors listed below. The City does not recommend any specific contractor. The West Sacramento Fire Department is charged with enforcement of Section 39560 et. seq. of the California Government Code. A Fire Department inspection will be conducted on all properties within the City to determine compliance. If necessary, the City weed abatement contractor will abate the property. If you have not substantially completed the work of abatement before the City contractor arrives, the contractor will abate the nuisance. The cost of abatement and an additional 20% administrative fee shall constitute a lien upon such land until paid. A copy of Resolution 25-35 is on file with the City Clerk, located at 1110 W. Capitol Ave., West Sacramento, CA. All property owners having objections to the proposed removal of such weeds may submit a written objection and/or attend a meeting of the City Council of the City of West Sacramento. The hearing will be held on April ??, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. All objections will be given due consideration.
